Raphael is one of the four Catholic Archangels.

For Jews and Protestant Christians, he appears by name in apocryphal books but not in books considered canonical. For Catholics, he appears in the deuterocanonical Tobit, which is considered canonical by the Catholic Church.

An excellent summary of Raphael’s involvement with Tobit can be found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Tobit#Summary

Raphael is sometimes associated with the healing “angel of the lord” described in John 5: 4.

Although he has debatable status among religious denominations, Raphael appears in classic art, music, literature and even TV.¹
