Fallen Angels

A fallen angel denotes something gone wrong, either with a person or, more traditionally, with a purely spiritual being who freely chooses to reject and therefore oppose God’s will.

Myths and stories about fallen angels are quite common.

In Paradise Lost John Milton (1608 – 1674) writes about legions of angels following Satan in rebellion against God. Massive wars break out. St. Michael leads the Lord’s Angels, who face ingenious contraptions built by Satan and his fallen army. But the final victory is reserved for Christ and St. Michael stands aside as Jesus defeats the evil army.

In apocalyptic Jewish literature, God exalts human beings above the angels and instructs Satan to serve mankind. Satan and his motley crew of followers refuse and are cast out of heaven, rebellious and revengeful.

Some say the powerful “Sons of Man” mentioned in the Old Testament are Fallen Angels. Others believe that aliens are really fallen angels.

In Islam the personification of evil is Shaytan. In the Koran God commands Iblis to bow down before Adam and serve mankind but through his pride Iblis refuses. God allows Iblis to tempt mankind until Judgement Day, at which time he will be cast into hell.

In Islamic thought Iblis is often seen as the master jinn, the head of demons allowed to torment humanity.

To this coolguymuslim adds:

There is no such thing as a fallen angel in Islam. No doubt, in Islam, Iblis a.k.a. Satan is a jinn and he is most evil. However at the same time, he never is nor was an angel. Angels in Islam do not have free will and they cannot disobey God. In terms of Iblis, he used to be a rightous slave of God so much so that he was elevated to the level of angels before he refused to bow down, however, he was never an angel. Jinn, on the other hand, do possess free will and there are good and evil jinn just as there are good and evil humans.

In Hinduism the asuras are described as benevolent spiritual beings in the Vedas but devolve in subsequent Hindu scripture to become demons.

In the fictional Star Wars movies fallen Jedi – such as Darth Vader – could be seen as a rough parallel to the idea of fallen angels, mostly because both good and “dark side” Jedi possess paranormal powers and mental abilities.

  9. coolguymuslim explained it well,i want add some things.as he said satan was not an angel.before human race god created jinns (those creatures are not believed in christianity , there are alot of haunted places in europe and in amerika in all over the world ,which are folowed by the expert and the truth of some unseen beings are accepted scientifically over 50 years ,christians entitles them as ghosts ,spirits or demons .objects are moved by some invisible forces, the doors are opened, knocked, there alot of cryptid sightings with red glowing eyes like loveland frog mothman bigfoots yetis ,those are all jinns .jinn is an arabic word and the meaning is hidden. they are some kind of energy bodied but like human consciousness creatıres they live inthis world between us but they are so thin in density that we cannot see even touch them but they can see us they can transform in any shape they can take a body like a human or animal but this is forbidden by god not permitted by the angels there fore only in exceptional times those can things happen like mothman bigfoot or sth those things are not their real look its only a form and those are often bad jinns as the christians call them demons. they can move very quickly ,over light speed),the name of this group was jann but this jann beings gone bad in time and god order to angels to destroy them only one being was left, this was jinn child angels had nercy for him and asked to let him alive god accepted( god of course knows who is he but there is a masterplan and god will use him after) angels took him near them and raised him taught him high angelic learnings and he began to work like an agel with angels and in time he made a lot of succesful things in some of the gods endless places and became famous betwen angels he became some reputations such azaazeel arabic word i dont know the wxact meanig you can look in dictionary but i think the meanings is powerfull, honourable sth like that and this thing was the famous satan or shaytan .before he was good b ut you know the story he didnt accept adams the first human spiritually and materially higher than him and the other angels,i said that jins have supernatural abilities , he looked at adam he is a human with no supernatural abilty ,he thaught how can this higher than me he coludnt understand that god doesnt means or likes supernatural abilities he couldnt see all the beatiful and good things that humans has of course good humans not bads
,love ,fondness, tenderness.loving kindness, feelings and the the other good things god likes that, here i have to a very very important thing ,its asked since the beginning of the human history why god created the universe us ,it i ts very simple everyone knows what it is but dont know that s the reason is ,,,, love ,,,,.this the love to everything first human of course than animals then plants than the other things .not sex of course or not the love between man and woman .he didnt un derstand hat and he disobeyed you kow the rest of the story .of course this a plan of god and he uses shaytan for examination of people in order to see that they will chose the right and good
