Kundalini (Sanskrit: coiled like a snake). A symbolic serpent in Tantric Hinduism and Buddhism said to be lying coiled at the base of the spine, charged with spiritual power. Once awakened through meditative exercises such as pranamaya (i.e. controlled breathing), it apparently rises through seven chakras.
